Many patients without insurance are opting to fund their own private treatment. On enquiry, we will prepare for you an estimate of anticipated charges of pre-admission assessment, accommodation and meals, nursing care, operating theatre fees, diagnostic tests, treatment and all drugs and dressings during your stay. It is very important to understand, however, that this is an estimate only and because of the uncertainties of medical care and individual needs, costs may vary up or down from those anticipated.
All self-funding patients will be asked to pay the full anticipated cost of their treatment before admission. Payment may be made by credit or debit card.
Please note that as we are a national centre for excellence and many of our patients are referred for second opinions or with complex problems, we currently do not offer fixed price packages, but we do try and remain affordable for the type of surgery we offer.
We have contracts with the majority of insurers to cover the costs of your treatment. Prior to attending either an outpatient appointment or being admitted into the private patient unit you must get authorisation from your insurer. You will need to check with them your policy limits or restrictions and whether the RNOH is in their chosen network of hospitals. Please ensure you have all the relevant details regarding your insurance, including your membership or policy number, when having any contact with our team.
Please be aware that you will be responsible for costs not covered by your insurance policy, such as any medication or equipment you are given to go home with.
Third Party Sponsorship
Patients must provide an original signed letter from their sponsor clearly accepting responsibility for payment of their account. This must be received and agreed by the Trust prior to the appointment or admission date.
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital has excellent relationships with a number of embassies in the London area. If you are a government sponsored patient your embassy will need to issue a letter of guarantee too cover the cost of your treatment. We must receive this letter before your appointment date to enable treatment to go ahead.
Cheques and Credit/Debit Card
All payments must be made in pounds sterling.
Personal Cheques and Bankers Drafts should be made payable to ‘Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust’. Personal cheques can only be accepted if received in advance in order for the funds to be cleared.
We accept all major credit cards, however, we are unable to accept Diners or Amex.
Outstanding accounts are monitored and reviewed regularly.
